Whittemore - Community, Culture & Conservation is excited to be partnering with the Tewksbury Elementary School and the Board of Education, in providing After-School programming for the 2021-22 Academic year, to be held on school grounds right after school.

Our programs will have a nature and wellness theme, enriching students on the importance of conservation, the natural beauty available in our own backyard (schoolyard), the importance of being outdoors, while embracing the community in which we live, all the while having fun! Our focus is for the children to be outdoors as much as possible while enjoying themselves and taking the skills learned and using them at home. We look forward to educating your students.

Natural Sculptures -
Grades 3-5, Wednesdays
3:35-4:35 with Artist David Horowitz

Due to a scheduling conflict the PROGRAM is Now WEDNESDAYS

How cool to would it be to create a large-scale sculpture made from natural materials (dead wood, stones..all collected on and around school grounds!

Kids will work as a group collecting material, sketch what we think it may look like/be, work as a team to decide what the sculpture should look like/be. Finally work together to build said sculpture for all to see!

Or the kids will create their own miniature sculptures made from materials found on school grounds, using the same concepts as the large sculpture. The actual program will all depend on the group and what is decided as a group. This is an opportunity to be creative, independent and work as a group.

This program will be held outdoors, weather permitting!  We ask that you dress your child for the weather. We suggest layers and sneakers or boots (especially if its been raining). If the weather does not allow us to be outside, the program will be held indoors with fun activities relating to that days topic.

This class will be run by WhittemoreCCC's Artist, Sculptor, Innovator - David Horowitz. At Whittemore David is the Curator of Whittemore's Sculpture Garden, as well as leading the charge, educating our community about the Earthworks Movement and the importance of Nature.

Class is limited to 8 students.
