Watercolor: Nature Journaling

This course will be conducted outdoors (weather permitting) on the grounds of Whittemore. We will visually interpret the plants and flowers in the gardens and on some of the trails using watercolor in sketchbooks. Participants will learn how to draw with a brush, and how to mix colors in a clean and harmonious way to achieve maximum results. Emphasis will be placed on form, value and composition.

Session I (Friday in September)

August 10th: 10:00am - 12:30pm

Tuition: $120 for 3 sessions

Materials List

• Watercolor sketchbook in the size of your choice containing 140 lb cold press paper
• #6, 8 and 10 pointed round watercolor brushes (Princeton brush makes some nice ones in synthetic or sable, your choice)
• Watercolor palette or enamel butcher's tray
• Paper towels
• Transparent watercolor paints in the following colors (any brand but please buy professional artist quality):
• Winsor blue (green shade)
• French Ultramarine blue
• Alizarin crimson
• Winsor red
• Raw sienna
• Windsor yellow
