MUSICIAN OF THE EVENING

Laura Giannini is an Italian-born concert violinist currently based in New York City. At age 19, Laura was selected by the violinist Uto Ughi to perform as soloist and member of his Festival Omaggio a Roma Youth Orchestra. A graduate of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome and Hochschule für Künste Bremen in Germany, she was a student of Felix Ayo and Katrin Scholz, as well as Shmuel Ashkenasi and Daniel Phillips in the USA.

While living in Europe, Laura was already an active chamber musician for several artistic institutions, such as Accademia dei Cameristi, A.Gi.Mus. Roma, Musica a Piazza Navona and Deutscher Tonkünstlerverband. Her performance of Schönberg’s Pierrot Lunaire as violinist in the Kammerensemble Nordwind was also broadcast live on Deutschland Radio Kultur. In 2006 she contributed in the Ensemble Méditerranée to the recording of chamber works by Raffaele Gervasio in a CD entitled “Rapsodia su Canti di Puglia”, produced by the DAD Records.

Ms. Giannini is at present engaged in various musical projects, including those of Semplice Players – chamber group performing with Mark Peskanov at Bargemusic, The Symphony Orchestra of the Americas, orchestra lead by Felipe Tristan and of which Laura is Principal, Broadway Sings – the concert series praised by the New York Times, The Queens Consort and Ensemble Leonarda – performing on period instruments. In summer 2018 she toured in Taiwan presenting both modern and baroque repertoire respectively in duo with piano and harpsichord.

Laura is also excited to be a member and cofounder of the QueensSound Ensemble, chamber group with soprano Linda Teixeira and pianist/organist Helena Kim, combining vocal and instrumental music, and the OLLA Rhapsody, violin duo with violinist Olga Tymchenko, both since 2019.  Ms. Giannini has performed in several orchestras and chamber ensembles around the world at prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, DiMenna Center for Classical Music, The National Opera Center, Die Glocke, Yuanlin Performing Arts Hall, Shinmin Art Center Performance Hall, Piccinni Theater and Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome.
