Earth Day Dirt Party for the Earthen Oven

"The earthen oven has been used for centuries throughout many countries.  Though age-old, it is still relied on today in many professions such as your local pizzeria. The earthen oven, that you can easily make, makes professional food using only natural resources.   The oven is so sufficient that the heat last for over twenty –four hours giving you time to cook many meals. An earth oven, ground oven is one of the simplest and most ancient cooking structures. At its most basic, an earth oven is a pit in the ground used to trap heat and bake, smoke, or steam food."

Lead by Chef Hank Reed of Culinary Journeys & Food Makes Friends Team Leader - join him to learn how an earthen oven is built and make clay tiles from actual clay from the WhittemoreCCC property.

This earthen oven will be used by Food Makes Friends for our fundraising dinners, children's programs, FMF programs and for whenever we are in the mood for Pizza!

Wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty and lets have some fun.

All that join us will be invited to a PIZZA Party, Date TBD, to enjoy what you have helped create.
