OVERVIEW
In celebration of Whittemore Community, Culture & Conservation’s 10-Year Anniversary, Then & Now is a juried exhibition honoring the artists who have helped shape Whittemore’s creative identity over the past decade. This exhibition invites reflection on artistic evolution—where an artist’s journey began at Whittemore and where it stands today.
Since its founding, the arts have been a cornerstone of Whittemore’s mission—connecting creativity, community, and conservation within our historic landscape. Then & Now serves as both a retrospective and a forward-looking celebration, highlighting how artists and Whittemore have grown together over ten years.
CALL to ARTISTS
This exhibition is open exclusively to artists who have previously exhibited at Whittemore Community, Culture & Conservation in any capacity, including indoor exhibitions, outdoor installations, Sculpture Gardens, salons, and special programs.
Each artist will submit two works:
-
“Then” – A work that was previously exhibited at Whittemore (or representative of that period in their artistic practice)
-
“Now” – A recent or new work that reflects the artist’s current practice, growth, or evolution
Together, these paired works should tell a visual and conceptual story of artistic progression over time.

-
Artistic excellence and craftsmanship
-
Strength of the Then & Now pairing
-
Clarity of artistic evolution
-
Alignment with Whittemore’s mission and anniversary theme
All submitted artwork must follow the above mentioned guidelines and be ready for install (if complicated supply directions and supplies). To register, either use the form below or send your submissions to Carolyn Thow including high-resolution JPEG's, titles, dimensions, medium, and sale price or NFT information
Artists are invited to delve into the theme of nature across a spectrum of mediums, offering abundant space for interpretation. Whether it's through the inventive use of upcycled materials, the classic strokes of painting, the captivating lens of photography, the artistry of bookmaking, the delicacy of works on paper, the sculptural form, or the dynamic fusion of mixed media incorporating natural elements, we welcome diverse artistic expressions. The exhibition embraces both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional works, providing a versatile platform for creativity that transcends traditional boundaries.
