About The Event

Suitable for all ages, this Guided Walk/Workshop with printmaker Greta Anderson begins on the trail near the Whittemore studios with the focus on collecting leaves, grasses, flowers and anything with interesting details, textures and shapes.  Back at the studio, a demonstration of the Monoprint process introduces participants to the traditional printmaking tools, including brayers, water based woodblock inks, plates and the etching press. Then students will create designs on a printing plate with brayers and brushes and their natural materials from the trail. The images will be transferred to paper via the etching press. Multiple prints are encouraged from one plate.  This walk will have an additional fee for materials, included in the ticket price.

Greta Anderson has been an instructor for the Print Center of New Jersey's Roving Press outreach program for over fifteen years. She has taught printmaking, papermaking and book arts in many private and public schools all over the state. She has been involved with professional development for teachers as well as workshops for business groups and not-for-profit boards. At PCNJ she has held workshops for artists in screenprinting and lithography on several levels.

She has also taught at the Newark Museum, Morris Museum and the Center for Contemporary Art and the Hunterdon Art Museum. She received her BFA degree in Painting and Printmaking from Rutgers and her MFA from the University of Pennsylvania. Her work is included in collections of the Johnson & Johnson Corporation, Pfizer Corporation, Newark Public Library and Montclair Museum library, and has been seen in solo and group shows in this country and abroad.

This Guided Walk is Sponsored by Hunterdon Healthcare.
